A Message From Pat
Dear Friends,
Thank you for visiting my Web site. As a member of the Kansas House of Representatives for District 28, I am honored to have support from so many who value our public schools, small businesses and community.
Many of you know I have been a long-time advocate for public education. I understand that our schools are the driving force behind economic development, prosperity, family values, and the excellent quality of life we enjoy. As your representative, I am making every effort to ensure that our schools receive the funding they deserve to be among the best in the nation.
In addition to education, economic development is also a top priority for me. I am a small business owner and have experienced the impact state laws have had on our small businesses. I have worked to make Leawood a business-friendly environment for new entrepreneurs, investors and small business owners.
In order to achieve these goals, we must work with our cities and with representatives from all parts of Kansas. Through my years of experience with city governments and public officials, I realize the importance of these relationships. I will partner with those legislators who are willing to do the same to meet our fiscal needs and to not push the tax burden onto local citizens.
As your State Representative, I am committed to representing the values and interests that matter most to our community. I serve as Chairman of the House Corrections and Juvenile Justice Committee and on the House Judiciary Committee as well as on the Kansas Sentencing Commission and on the Kansas Reentry Policy Committee. I currently serve on the Council of State Governments in several capacities which include Chair, National Task Force on Public Safety and Justice; Vice Chairman, Board of Directors, Justice Center; and, the Legal Task Force which is a committee composed of ten attorney legislators nationwide who review cases that are before the United States Supreme Court that will affect states' rights and then decide whether to authorize an amicus brief on behalf of the states.
Your advice and counsel is always welcome and useful as I work to meet the responsiblity of representing all of us.
Sincerely,

Pat Colloton |
